Ransomware Readiness Assessment

The ongoing threat and potential risk of ransomware attacks has been the subject of many announcements and webinar training events by the NCUA for the past few years. Several whitepapers, case-studies, and tools have been provided to help credit unions measure their effectiveness. Unfortunately, fully understanding the tools and acting on the results is less than clear. That’s where the Ransomware Readiness Assessment comes in.

Based on the R-SAT tool provided by CSBS, US Secret Services, and others, our team will conduct the assessment, align the results specific for your credit union operations and peer group, and help identify and prioritize actions you can take to strengthen your security posture.

The Ransomware Readiness Assessment is designed specifically to help credit unions identify and remediate gaps in preparedness levels in the areas of preventing, detecting, responding, and recovering from ransomware attacks.

  • Targeted focus with evaluation of capabilities. We recommend this engagement annually to measure readiness for a ransomware event and your ability to respond.

  • Review and assess institutions posture specifically to ransomware. We analyze controls designed for prevention, detection, and response. Includes technical, operational, and administrative controls.

A report is provided detailing the findings of the assessment in five key domains including: Backup Infrastructure, Preventative Security Controls, Endpoint Control, Administrative Response, and Security Processes. For each domain, an itemized list of control effectiveness is provided with recommendations for improvement and appropriate cost metrics.
